Alcohol Policy

The Liquor Control Act and the Liquor License Act of the Province of Ontario and Club policies govern all individuals on Club property. Any questions regarding these laws and policies applicable to the Club property should be directed to the General Manager. Should the Club suffer any penalty or liability by reason of a breach of these laws by a member or a member’s guest(s), such member shall indemnify the Club to the full extent thereof.

Kawartha Golf & Country Club will serve individuals in a responsible, friendly and professional manner. Staff are on hand to assist individuals in their decision to drink in moderation and, where appropriate, avoid drinking activities that put the individual at harm or risk. As per Club policy, staff who serve alcoholic beverages have the right to refuse to serve any individual who appears to have consumed alcohol to the level of intoxication. Management and staff are committed to adhere to all liquor laws;

It is against the law for a licensed establishment to serve individuals alcoholic beverages to a point of intoxication or that are suspected of already being intoxicated. It is also against Ontario legislation to serve alcoholic beverages to minors.

No alcoholic beverages other than those provided by the Kawartha Golf & CC shall be permitted anywhere on the property.

All servers at Kawartha Golf & CC have been trained in Smart Serve regulations and recognition of signs of intoxication. They will take action as they deem appropriate and with full support of the Management and the Board of Directors.

Kawartha Golf & CC expects that our members and/or their guests will appreciate our legal obligation to comply strictly with these requirements and will co-operate with our staff on those occasions when we must deny further beverage service to a member and/or their guests or ask for age of majority identification.

Any individual who fails to adhere to all liquor laws (Liquor Control Act and the Liquor License Act) and Club policies or interfere with staff attempting to carry out their duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Club policies and Smart Serve Training guidelines will be subject to disciplinary action as stated in the Club’s By-law Number

One amended, Part 17.8 and the Policies & Procedures document. Kawartha Golf & CC assumes no liability for any injury, wrongdoing or problem caused by the breach of these rules.

As a condition of the use of Club facilities and more particularly, the provision of alcoholic beverage service by the Club, all individuals hereby expressly waive any liability on the part of Kawartha Golf & CC arising out of the consumption of alcoholic beverages and agree to indemnify and save harmless Kawartha Golf & CC from any and all claims, damages or law suits referable to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
